Hoogerheide 4.09.

On September 4th The Bike for Europe cycling team will roll into the village of Hoogerheide, just a stone’s throw from the Belgian border. They will be welcomed in the morning by the local cycling club and from here will also visit the local Cycling Academy, which offers various cycling activities to the local community, cycling clubs and students. The North Team will be given a tour of the facilities at the Academy, before meeting the local students and trying out a range of different cycling sports, some of which they will never have partaken in before!

It is no surprise that this part of the North Brabant province is so excited to have Bike for Europe passing by. Woensdrecht municipality, which Hoogerheide lies in, is a UCI bike region, having a long standing association with pro-cycling, hosting an annual UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup event every year since 1988, and also twice having hosted the UCI-Cyclo-cross World Championship finals! The region also has an ambitious cycle plan in place, aiming aim to strengthen and expand local cycling opportunities, improve the cycling infrastructure in the area, and promote cycling as a form of physical activity for all.

Upon their departure from this bike mad village the team will be accompanied by two local Aldermen, who will ride with them to the Belgian border as the riders say goodbye to the Netherlands.
